Growing up in a large family Chef Ramiro remembers his mom being in the kitchen all day cooking for their family of sixteen and anyone else who dropped in for a visit. He watched her take great pride in her meals and the exquisite aromas of fresh herbs and home made mole that brought smiles to many faces.
Chef grew up in Venice, CA and by the age of 16 he knew he wanted more than anything to become a chef. He loved being in the kitchen and creating new dishes. In 1979 he had the privilege to be the Chef de Cuisine under Wolfgang Puck. This was truly one of the highlights in his cooking career. He has proven himself along his career by successfully establishing and opening seven new restaurants throughout the country. Since then, he has had the opportunity to travel all over the country, working in many different restaurants. One of his favorite spots was Memphis, Tennessee where he graduated from Memphis Culinary Institute in 1987. Chef Ramiro feels that Memphis was one of the best influences of his career, introducing him to Southern and French Cuisine, which is amongst his specialties.
While working at the Wilshire Country Club, Chef Ramiro had the opportunity to cook for many famous people such as Bill Clinton, Shaquille O'Neil, Tommy La Sorda, George Kennedy, Dean Martin, Jerry Lewis, Jacque Cousteau and many others. After 30 years of working in the fine dining restaurants industry he states that he still enjoys learning and creating new dishes. Cooking continues to be his passion in life. His creativity for new recipes along with his knowledge and supervisory skills made this an easy decision. The transition was also made easier since Chef Ramiro has worked for Tresetti’s since 2003; he is familiar with the restaurant and Tresetti’s continued demand to put the guest first.
